All Things New

It has been a long time since I’ve written anything publicly.  It is good to be back.  I suspect that those of you reading this are my old readers and you know about the personal struggles that have quieted my pen (actually keyboard, but pen sounds so much more writerish).

It is good to be back.  I’ve been doing great now for many months, but it is only now that I have first picked up my pen (see what I mean).  I have had six months off of work and have spent the time focusing on recovery, healing, restoration of soul and spirit and renewing my relationship with God.  It has been an incredible time of growth.  God is so good.  He is good indeed.

If you found this blog you have also realized that I have been working on a new ministry, Lighthouse Church.  Sometimes it is simply time to move on.  But when we do so we must take time to reflect and listen to the Lord.  I have heard from God again and again, “just wait and focus on Me.  Just wait.  Not now!  ‘Be still and know that I am God.'”  Be still…not something that has been my expertise.  But truth be told, I’ve gotten pretty good at it these last six months.  God speaks and moves in His time.

Well, God has moved and things have come together for a new ministry.  I thank the Lord for the past years at Atonement and pray that God would bless my dear friends and continue His good work.  My struggles have led to the struggles of many people and a church I love.  Yet the promise is that it is in such times that God prepares us for even greater challenges and service.  It is true for my former church home, Atonement, and it is true for me.

In the midst of ministry burnout I prayed hard and sought the Lord.  Many pastors who burn out don’t just leave the ministry, they leave the church and faith altogether.  I did not want to be a statistic.  I held on to God’s promises.  God will not let me go!  He will redeem my struggles and use them if I’m willing for His kingdom purposes.  “Behold, I am making all things new.”  Rev 21:5 NASB.

Did you hear that.  God makes all things new.  God is a God of new beginnings.  God is a God of forgiveness and redemption.  God is a God of healing and recovery.  God is not only the God of creation, but He is the God of new creations offered to us and available each and every day.  Not only will God redeem our struggles, He will use them for good if we are willing to let Him.

I write this not only to share a bit of where I’m at this day.  Some of you reading this are looking for a new start in life.  A new creation.  Perhaps you know that life is not going well, you’re not doing that well on your own.  Well, look to the light of Jesus.  He offers a new start, a new beginning, right here and right now.  I am a testimony to this fact.  “Behold, I am making all things new!”  Believe it!  The promise is for you!

The Lighthouse shines the light of Jesus…the grace and mercy of a loving savior and a God who will make all things new!

See you at the lighthouse!
